Prayer in America

Senate races: California, Nevada, Colorado, Pennsylvania, W.Virginia
Elections
Let us pray. Almighty God, we pray for the national elections this Tuesday, that you will inspire Your people the Church to rise up and vote, that we would only vote for Godly candidates, that all our votes will be properly counted, that fraudulent candidates and vote-counters would be defeated, and that the Holy Spirit would move this entire nation away from sin and back to righteousness. From Psalm 33:12, Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people whom He has chosen for His own inheritance. In Jesus name, Amen.

Judge Rules Personhood OK for Mississippi Ballot
Let us pray. Almighty God, we praise your Holy Name for the great victory you gave in a courtroom in Mississippi this week, where Judge Malcolm Harrison ruled that the November 2011 election ballot can include the Personhood Amendment, which defines life beginning at conception, and has potential to overrule Roe v. Wade and outlaw abortions for good. We now pray the pastors and Christian people of Mississippi will extend legal protection to unborn persons, from Romans 7:1, "Do you not know…that the law has jurisdiction over a person as long as he lives?" In Jesus name, Amen

17 Aborted Babies Found in Michigan Dumpster
Let us pray. Almighty God, we express our horror at the recent discovery of 17 aborted babies bodies thrown in plastic baggies into a dumpster near an abortion clinic in Michigan, which murder and disrespect for life is claimed as “legal.” God your law makes abortion illegal everywhere, as you state in Proverbs 6:16-17, "the LORD hates…hands that shed innocent blood." Now God cause Michigan legislators to rise up and pass laws that don’t merely stop dumpster disposal of dead children, but actually prevent their murder in the first place, In Jesus name, Amen.

Forced Abortion at Gunpoint: Man threatens girlfriend
Let us pray. Almighty God, we pray You help convict an Ohio man of attempted double-murder because he pulled out a handgun and ordered his pregnant girlfriend to abort their unborn child. The girl passed a note to the abortionist, who called police, and now the man is in jail. God help us jail all murderers who kill children, until they repent, so they can avoid eternal damnation far worse than jail, from Revelation 21:8, "the abominable and murderers and immoral persons…their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone," In Jesus name, Amen.

Christians fired for displaying Bible verse in workplace
Let us pray. Almighty God, we pray you restore Daniel and Sharon Dixon, who were fired and evicted from managing an apartment complex by a man who said they were “too religious,” because they displayed, in the rental office, a small stained glass artwork with flowers and the phrase "Consider the lilies... Matthew 6:28." God we pray the 11th Circuit Court of appeals enforces the law, since Title VII and VIII prohibit discrimination in employment and housing on account of religion. From Matthew 5:10, bless the Dixons who are persecuted for righteousness sake. In Jesus name, Amen.

Michigan says "no Christian roommates"
Let us pray. Almighty God, we pray you protect and defend a 31 year old Christian woman in Michigan, who is accused of discrimination, just because she posted a flyer on her church bulletin board seeking to rent a room in her house to a "Christian roommate," and some non-Christian got easily offended. God help Alliance Defense Fund protect her First Amendment and free association rights against the Michigan Department of "Civil" Rights who falsely accuses her. From 2 Cor 6:14, "Do not be bound together with unbelievers…what fellowship has light with darkness?" In Jesus name, Amen.

Heretical "Christian" group supports destruction of Israel
Let us pray. Almighty God, we pray you forgive the heresy and sin of a schismatic Catholic synod who asked the Vatican to stop supporting Israel this week, and promoted a false "replacement" theology that because of Jesus, the Jews are no longer God’s chosen people. We pray instead from Romans 9, that God blesses His chosen people the Jews, for we wish we ourselves "were cut off from Christ for the sake of…the people of Israel. Theirs is the adoption as sons, theirs the divine glory, the covenants, the law, the temple worship, and the promises." In Jesus name, Amen.

From the 'Pray in Jesus name' project. The views of Chaplain Klingenschmitt, who was honorably but involuntarily discharged from the Navy in 2007 after facing court-martial for praying 'in Jesus name' in uniform, (but was later vindicated by Congress), are his own personal views, not the views of any political party, government, or organization.

Initiative I-1098

Click here for article in Examiner

Against the measure
Former Senator Slade Gorton explained that income tax Initiative 1098 would weaken the state economy, reduce charitable giving, and "add tens of thousands of people to our unemployment rolls."

Gorton continued that state lawmakers would very likely extend an income tax to everyone in the state.

If 1098 becomes law, it is likely that legislature eventually will extend the tax to all income levels, not just the ones who work and earn a good salary.  If 1098 becomes law, a simple majority vote of the Legislature can extend the new income tax to all Washingtonians in two years. (See video, 'Ken Schram on the street.')

The Legislature can also change where the money goes, and it may not necessarily go to education and healthcare.

Matt McIlwain, managing director at Madrona Venture Group, noted that state funding for both higher education and the K-12 school system has steadily increased over the years and questions whether it is being spent effectively.

He also believes the tax would soon be extended to include all earners:

Seattle Times, 'Follow the money': "WHO is the big money in the fight over a Washington state income tax? It is the unions."

"1098 creates a 9% state income tax, it's initially on high earners. There has never been a state in the history of the United States that hasn't ultimately had their income tax applied to everyone in the state." Matt McIlwain

Debate between James Watkins and Jay Inslee turns confrontational

"BAINBRIDGE ISLAND—The American Legion Hall on Bainbridge Island was packed with supporters of James Watkins and Jay Inslee Monday night in their only scheduled debate. There was standing room only for the raucous crowd which in turns jeered or clapped for their preferred candidate. While Watkins maintained composure throughout the night, Inslee seemed thrown off from the start by Watkins’ opening question of him, and he never quite recovered.

“Inslee appeared shocked by the turnout on his refuge of Bainbridge Island. I’d say fiscal conservatives outnumbered his partisans by three to one,” said Watkins, referring to Inslee’s refusal to debate anywhere but in his home town. “Inslee had partisan attacks and talking points, but I had facts and the truth. It was clear Inslee didn't know what was in the bills he voted for.”

The candidates began the debate with questions of each other, and Watkins asked Inslee pointedly about his intention to run for governor, because, said Watkins, “We can’t afford a part-time representative.”

Watkins also asked Inslee for a pledge that if re-elected, Inslee would refuse his congressional salary while he campaigns during his legislative term: “Will you pledge tonight to refuse your $175,000 per year congressional salary during the next two years? Taxpayers shouldn’t have to fund your living expenses while you run for governor.”

Like he has with tough questions this entire election, Inslee ducked. He spent his allotted time filibustering and avoiding the questions. The crowd saw through the delay and shouted for a direct answer. But they never got one.

At Inslee’s turn to ask one question of Watkins, he refused to engage Watkins in a back and forth on policy, preferring instead to complain about James’ question.

Watkins says, “The choice is clearer than ever. If voters want more of the same failed partisan politics, Inslee is their guy. If they want independent leadership and commitment to responsible government, they’ll vote for me.”

Inslee has voted with his party leadership 99% of the time (OpenCongress.org) and referred to his opponents as the “forces of darkness” (2/12/10 Connelly, Seattle P-I).

The Legionnaires selected questions from audience submissions as well as from emailed questions, and they grouped them in five categories: taxes, economy, immigration, healthcare, and “other.” Watkins made his positions clear in every category and remained unrattled in Inslee’s hometown. In contrast, Inslee complained several times about the engagement of the crowd, one time reproving 1st District residents present who weren’t his neighbors on Bainbridge Island.

Watkins is the only candidate that has fostered the creation of new private-sector jobs throughout the country. At the federal level he cut government spending as an FDIC troubleshooter. For more information on James Watkins, visit www.WatkinsForCongress.com."

Sean Hannity on radio show today allows Carl Paladino to explain his views

"I will run a government with good ideas and solid principles. I pledge to serve one four-year term. I'll make the tough decisions. I'll take the pins and needles. I'll take the punches and I won't be worrying about popularity and re-election," Paladino said. Hey Republicans, vote for Paladino.  Liberal Democrats, why don't you vote for Jimmy "the rent is too damn high" McMillan?   McMillian said if elected Governor, he would let people define marriage anyway they saw fit, even if they "wanted to marry a shoe."Paladino told Sean Hannity that he has gay friends who are part of the mainstream and that he has great respect for them.  He has shown no discrimination in renting out his building to any group of individuals, including gays.

He has a problem with taking children to a gay parade where participants are scantily clad, performing sexually suggestive dances.  He feels that is disgusting.

If he could tell Andrew Cuomo anything directly, he would tell him to come out and say what he really stands for instead of dancing through the raindrops.  He believes Cuomo is trying to have it both ways, appearing to be moderate because he knows NY wants something different yet hiding his true self with intentions to act the same old way he always has.  A zebra can't change its stripes.

Jay Inslee finally agrees to debate James Watkins, WA-01

New TV Ad - "Jay Inslee, Party Puppet" from James Watkins for Congress on Vimeo.

"After persistent stalling, Inslee agrees to a date after voting has begun, on a day the press will be focused on President Clinton’s visit.

WHEN:Monday, October 18
6 p.m. doors open. 7 p.m. start time.
Ferry Schedule Seattle to Bainbridge:
LV 4:40 / AR 5:15 ~ LV 5:30 / AR 6:05 ~ LV 6:20 / AR 6:55

WHERE:
American Legion Colin Hyde Post 172
7880 Bucklin Hill Rd NE
Bainbridge Island, WA 98110

WHAT:
James Watkins, candidate for the 1st congressional district, will finally have the chance to debate Jay Inslee, after many weeks of Inslee ducking. The American Legion on Bainbridge Island has agreed to host the only debate Inslee will agree to.

While voters in the 1st District deserve a chance to hear the two candidates debate in a critical election year, the Watkins campaign is aware that news media election coverage will likely be preoccupied with Pres. Bill Clinton’s visit the same day, who is appearing in support of Patty Murray.

Watkins is not surprised this Inslee agreed to this date out of political expediency. “Inslee seems to prefer avoiding public coverage of his voting record,” he says. “He voted for trillions of dollars in deficit spending and stood against regulating Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac back when it wasn’t too late to prevent our current economic crisis.”

Despite the low turnout of press due to Clinton’s visit, Watkins is eager to engage Inslee in a long-awaited formal debate and wants the voters to have a chance to actually see it.

Watkins stands with 1st District voters in supporting good government principles of transparency, independence, and fiscal responsibility. Inslee voted for a budget with a $1.34 trillion deficit and watched as Boeing cut 30,000 jobs."

André Carson Backs Islam, the Ground Zero Mosque, and Sharia law // Indiana

7th District Indiana ALERT - "Dr. Scott is seeking to unseat incumbent André Carson... one of only two Muslim members of Congress championing Islam, the Ground Zero Mosque, and Sharia law in America. Carson is a close friend of Louis Farrakhan -- an extremist black Muslim who spews vile racial hatred and virulent anti-Semitism whenever he gets the chance.

From Newt Gingrich:
Marvin - The stakes could not be higher for our nation this November. I am sure that your own deep concerns about the enormous challenges facing the families in your area, your state and our country motivated you to make the sacrifices required to run for public office. Thank you for taking your beliefs, values and aspirations into the public square.

I am also very pleased that you share my commitment to transforming government at every level to save America. Creating a new model of how government works is essential to addressing the most critical issues facing our nation today, including taxation, regulation, litigation, health, energy, education, and infrastructure.

Policies you are supporting will not only help transform government but they will also provide lower taxes, less government, and real job creation. Those policies, not the Democrats' policies of higher taxes, more government and job killing legislation, are what will finally put America back on the road to recovery.

The growing public excitement and support surrounding our policy ideas is why I believe the votes cast on November 2nd have the potential to create a sea-change election, just like 1994!

Thank you for the courage you have shown and the sacrifices you and those close to you have already made for our nation.

Your friend,
Newt Gingrich

Fellow Americans, Fellow Patriots: The rebellion is ON!
Help Dr Marvin Scott Defeat Democrat André Carson

From Alan Keyes: Just as we have been saying from the outset, the vital congressional race for Indiana's 7th district is not only winnable for conservatives, but it is shaping up as a bellwether contest! Several important opinion makers in Washington DC have taken notice this week that Dr. Marvin Scott has mounted a very winnable challenge to the appalling incumbent there, one André Carson -- a poster child for the Leftists' "progressive" destruction of the American family, economy and Constitution.

In recent weeks you have no doubt noticed that the Obama regime and its collaborators in the liberal media are terribly concerned about protecting failing incumbents and cosseting the sensibilities of left-wing extremists and potty-mouthed "progressives" lest they be "offended" or even "assaulted" by ordinary Tea Party citizens shouting out words of ordered liberty and extolling responsible self-government.

While they pursue their sick, skewed agendas we URGENTLY need your help TODAY to achieve still more conservative victories and sweep the Congress clean.

Yes, my personal friend, Dr. Marvin Scott -- patriot and Tea Party candidate -- is locked in a struggle against his opponent AND the cowardice of the political establishment.

Let me make that point one more time. Second term Congressman André Carson is one of two activist Muslims and Sharia advocates serving in Congress and this race may very well come down to the wire. America needs more men like Dr. Scott in the U.S. House, but he must have your financial support. Money is no object to his opponent, whose career is funded by shadowy groups and Islamist leaders who have known affiliations and funding relationships to identified terrorist organizations.

Let me be blunt: The state GOP is doing little to help with this winnable and important contest. Dr. Scott is mounting a excellent, substantive challenge and he deserves your help! With less than 30 days left until the final countdown to Elections 2010, we are rapidly closing on our LAST chance to RENEW and RESTORE our Republic, by electing the next generation of principled men and women who will govern as our Founders intended.

With our nation now being run by the likes of Barack Obama, Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi -- and they being served by the likes of André Carson -- there should be no doubt the time in America has, indeed, come when “vain and aspiring men possess the highest seats in Government.”

And, if we are to truly heed the advice of Samuel Adams, our country now “stands in need of its experienced patriots to prevent its ruin.”

And that is exactly why I am helping Dr. Marvin Scott… to help a humble, selfless, honorable and principled man serve his neighbors and his nation in Washington, DC.

Friend, I believe with all my heart that you are exactly the kind of patriot that Samuel Adams trusted could be called upon to prevent the ruin of our country in time of national peril and that is why I am calling on you today to support Dr. Marvin Scott for Congress.

You see, in Dr. Scott we have a true Tea Party candidate for federal office who will return this nation to its Declaration creed and who will, in fact, uphold his oath of office to protect and defend the Constitution against all enemies -- foreign AND domestic.

In most years, you wouldn’t hear about a competitive race in this district. People would say it was just “too difficult” to win. But not this year...

This year Republicans are already virtually certain to pick up three Indiana U.S. House seats held by liberal ObamaCare supporting Democrats. Dan Coats is leading for the GOP with the U.S. Senate seat in polling showing him up anywhere from 14 to 29 points. And the Republicans are showing a whopping 10 point lead on the Gallup national generic ballot, a 70 year record.

Dr. Scott is a man of integrity who holds deep conservative convictions he will fight for -- we can trust him in Washington.

"The only security of all is in a free press. The force of public opinion cannot be resisted when permitted freely to be expressed. The agitation it produces must be submitted to. It is necessary, to keep the waters pure." -- Thomas Jefferson 1823.

In today’s world you and email are the free press. Please forward this email to everyone you know to help keep the waters of liberty flowing pure -- that we may renew and restore America."

New York needs a New Yorker like Paladino as their Governor

Paladino on the issues, click here.

Mixxclassic: This article has been reported as abusive:  www.examiner.com/abuse/report/node/24209021?render...
Beauty and absurdity of Carl Paladino

Politically incorrect? Sure. Politically inept? Probably. Honest and clear-thinking? You bet, and that's the rub. Carl Paladino is very clear thinking on all the important issues, yet he's not being heard except for his blunders.
What's getting all the media attention and causing him to crash and burn? A few comments read from a prepared address to a group of Hasidic Jewish leaders. Referring to the gay lifestyle and according to the New York Times, he read:
“That’s not how God created us. I just think my children and your children would be much better off and much more successful getting married and raising a family, and I don’t want them brainwashed into thinking that homosexuality is an equally valid and successful option — it isn’t.”
“I didn’t march in the gay parade this year — the gay pride parade this year. My opponent did, and that’s not the example we should be showing our children.”
Very Catholic. Fairly innocuous and mainstream actually. The problem is that most of the media loudly and widely is proclaiming that those comments are homophobic. They are exaggerating them with headlines such as his 'gay-bashing' or his calling homosexuals 'disgusting,' which he did not.
Andrew Cuomo gleefully jumped on the bandwagon with his own response:
"Mr. Paladino's statement displays a stunning homophobia and a glaring disregard for basic equality. These comments along with other views he has espoused make it clear that he is way out of the mainstream and is unfit to represent New York."
Newsday.com reported that Mr. Paladino’s prepared text had included the sentence, “There is nothing to be proud of in being a dysfunctional homosexual,” and that he omitted that statement when he gave the speech. He also omitted a line about homosexuality being a sin.
However, some press reports included phrases in the speech he had struck out before delivering because they were shown in an earlier version that the Orthodox leaders had distributed to reporters.
Other issues
Gays wouldn't vote for Paladino anyway, no matter what he said about them. Well, on second thought, there may be a gay Republican or two who will decide Paladino's opinion about their lifestyle doesn't matter, and that his abilities to help New York out, especially in regard to jobs, do matter.
“New Yorkers pay the highest taxes, we get the wildest liberal spending, but we are still losing jobs.”
What about other New Yorkers? While Paladino lags woefully behind in the polls, will they have time enough to realize that he knows a lot more about and will do a lot more for them on issues than Cuomo ever would.
Andrew Cuomo has been known to lie over the most casual of circumstances. Not only that, he has shown a reluctance (Paladino has suggested Cuomo 'lacks the manhood') to debate Paladino:
"Cuomo lied about voting for Bloomberg or he lied about voting for Ferrer in 2005. Either way, he lied and voters are tired of career politicians' lies after Spitzer, Hevesi, and Paterson. Here's what the voters can be sure of: I may not always say things in the most delicate way, but I will always be honest with voters and tell them exactly what I believe."
"Andrew Cuomo is a career politician who always tries to tell people what they want to hear, rather than the truth. If you look at his record, this is just the most recent escapade to show how casually he lies."
"Andrew, if you don't have the courage to debate* a simple businessman from Buffalo you don't have the courage to take on the entrenched specials interests whose stranglehold on Albany is killing our state."
Indeed.
*'Andrew Cuomo accepts debate invitation'
'Paladino once rented to gay clubs,' click here. "described itself as a 'bar where anyone and everyone is welcome (and) prejudices are left at the door,' the News said." "Paladino said he opposes same-sex marriage but would actively recruit gays to his administration. He has also mentioned his gay nephew in saying that the discrimination he and others face is a 'very ugly experience.'"  Click here for references.

'Carl Paladino plays up redneck politics,' insulting article calling New Yorkers 'enlightened' because they are pro-abortion and pro-gay marriage.  Click here "Redneck politics is not the sole province of the South. It exists in the enlightened North, though perhaps toned down and buttoned up."
Author also brings up scene between Dicker and Paladino where Dicker was just as angry as Paladino.  As Dicker ignored Paladino's questions about harassing his daughter, Paladino started to walk away; but Dicker wouldn't let go.  Then Paladino told him to leave his daughter alone or 'he'd take him out.'  That focused Dicker's attention to where he kept angrily picking at Paladino.  Paladino appeared the calmer of the two but he was the one who used threatening words.  Dicker kept at him while Paladino took note of his taunt and just said, 'Watch!'

Jay Inslee’s partisanship, his record-setting deficit spending, and his career as a politician

See The Sarah Storm Report, click here.

Below is from Watkins for Congress
"James Watkins, candidate for Washington’s 1st congressional district, has released a TV ad highlighting Jay Inslee’s partisanship, his record-setting deficit spending, and his career as a politician.

James Watkins believes the only way to bring accountability to DC and predictability to Main Street is to elect a legislator who has practical, real-world experience as a problem-solver. Regarding Inslee’s status as a career politician for nearly 20 years, Watkins says, “We need to kick out the career political class and replace them with citizen legislators that have actually worked in the real world.”

Watkins predicts that two more years of Jay Inslee will bring about the same results as the last two: “He’s a party puppet, a tool of Nancy Pelosi, and a professional politician.” Inslee has voted with party leaders 99% of the time.

Inslee’s challenger agrees with many political observers that the fourteen year congressmanwill be running for governor the day after the election. “In this time of economic and fiscal crisis, we need a representative focused on those issues in Washington, DC, not a careerist who is simply punching a ticket moving up the ladder.”

Watkins also chides Inslee for his party-line voting in Congress and for his enthusiasm to spend money he doesn’t have. As far back as the Clinton era Inslee rejected the bipartisanDeficit Reduction Act of 1993, belying his self description as a “deficit hawk.” Inslee voted for record deficit spending in 2009, supporting a budget that was 40% unfunded.

In 2004, Inslee joined other Democrats in signing a letter to President Bush, opposing Bush’s proposal to regulate Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. Watkins points out that Inslee’s lack of practical economic experience helped caused our crisis and that problem solvers from the bottom-line world of “Main Street” are needed to create jobs, and revive our economy.

Watkins is the only candidate that has fostered the creation of new private-sector jobs. At the federal level he helped cut government spending as an FDIC troubleshooter. For more information on James Watkins, visit www.WatkinsForCongress.com."

"John Adams declared that America was a Christian nation which had a duty to obey the God of the Bible. This was not just his personal opinion, but was expressed in an official proclamation as President at the request of Congress.

As no truth is more clearly taught in the Volume of Inspiration, not any more fully demonstrated by the experience of all ages, than that a deep sense and a due acknowledgment of the growing providence of a Supreme Being and of the accountableness of men to Him as the searcher of hearts and righteous distributor of rewards and punishments are conducive equally to the happiness of individuals and to the well-being of communities....I have thought proper to recommend, and I hereby recommend accordingly, that Thursday, the twenty-fifth of April next, be observed throughout the United States of America as a day of solemn humiliation, fasting, and prayer; that the citizens on that day abstain, as far as may be, from their secular occupation, and devote the time to the sacred duties of religion, in public and in private; that they call to mind our numerous offenses against the most high God, confess them before Him with the sincerest penitence, implore His pardoning mercy, through the Great Mediator and Redeemer, for our past transgressions, and that through His Holy Spirit, we may be disposed and enabled to yield a more suitable obedience to His righteous requisitions in time to come; that He would interpose to arrest the progress of that impiety and licentiousness in principle and practice so offensive to Himself and so ruinous to mankind; that He would make us deeply sensible that "righteousness exalteth a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people" [Proverbs 14:34].

United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs

Click here for original article and references.

It certainly is an aberrant political year when we can observe that running for candidacy is a former dabbler in witchcraft vs a pet of Reid's who wrote about the virtues of Marxism.

Abnormal as the year highlights have been, flashback that Hillary invited psychologist Jean Houston (Foundation for Mind Research) to join her for a weekend to advise on reaching her full potential. She ended up channeling Eleanor Roosevelt and Mahatma Gandhi (the same one that she joked works at a gas station). And did you know that Al Gore wrote an article for a witchcraft magazine?

This year, though, is taking a bigger jump into being seriously outlandish. It's true the U.N. has already shown itself as something of a less-than-honorable circus act with the likes of Khadaffi, Chavez, and the insane little dictator Ahmadinejad; but this year they've come up with something new in their official capacity.

With the discovery of more planets, the U.N. thinks that such a discovery means we have now become more likely than before to be contacted by extraterrestrials.

•"the recent discovery of hundreds of planets around other stars has made the detection of extraterrestrial life more likely than ever before – and that means the UN must be ready to coordinate humanity’s response to any ‘first contact’.” Othman
The United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) has been formed to make sure earth is responsibly and peacefully prepared for that contact. UNOOSA is located in Vienna, Austria, and maintains a 24-hour hotline.

Malaysian astrophysicist Professor Datuk Dr. Mazlan Othman will be the head of UNOOSA and "act as Earth's first contact for any aliens that may come visiting.”

Battlestar Galactica

To give clues as to how to act when any outer space aliens come visiting Austria, the U.N. has been looking to a sci-fi t.v. show about interstellar travel. The show will serve as a sort of laboratory in that it has scenarios with real life choices, issues, dialogue, and actions for reconciling cultures of different planets.

The idea behind this strategy is out of belief that forward planning is essential to make sure we don't jump the gun and engage in a war that could annihilate us all. Possible areas of conflict will be discussed in a serious manner out of conclusion that preferable to annihilation is to integrate any warring extraterrestrial groups with ourselves to make a new species.

Ghost star Whoopi Goldberg will moderate the discussions.

Silver Lining

This useless endeavor for a useless organization does indeed have a silver lining. It will give them something to do for a while besides harass Israel.

1st District Candidate Watkins Calls It “Insurgent Campaigning”

Press release from Christy/Watkins for Congress:

How does an insurgent campaign deal with an entrenched incumbent that refuses to discuss the issues? Focus on the facts and take it to the street with volunteers.

Today, volunteers for the Watkins for Congress campaign deployed the first wave of hundreds of new issues-based signs across Washington’s 1st Congressional District in Kitsap, Snohomish, and King Counties. The signs are vivid and highlight one of the issues critical to voters – out-of-control government spending by long-term career politicians is bankrupting the United States and putting our future at risk.

First elected to Congress in 1992, Jay Inslee has voted for huge spending increases, the biggest deficits in U.S. history, huge new programs funded by debt, government bailouts, and huge tax increases we can’t afford. In the 111th Congress alone, he voted with Nancy Pelosi and his party 98.8% of the time in support of the following big spending bills:

· Government-run healthcare that robs $500 billion from Medicare, counts on a 21% pay cut for Doctors, hikes health insurance premiums, and makes healthcare MORE expensive.

· $862 billion in Stimulus Funds that failed to stimulate the economy.

· A $1.4 trillion deficit in 2009, and a projected deficit of $1.3 trillion in 2010 – the largest deficits in our history.

· $80+ billion to bailout car companies.

· An energy tax that will cost each family $1,761 per year and kill millions of jobs.

“Look – we just can’t afford business as usual in Washington, DC,” says Watkins. “Inslee has been there for 14 years and is part of the problem. The current Congress is old and busted – they won’t even pass a budget or tell us what our taxes will be in three months.”

Watkins continues, “I’ve helped cut spending at the federal agency level and helped create thousands of jobs in the private sector. I’ll be part of the solution.”

The Watkins campaign has also taken the unusual step today of releasing the very first 2010 1st Congressional District Issues Guide, a substantive guide to the top issues of the day. It’s a 17-page summary of Inslee votes and Watkins positions on jobs, federal spending, reforming wall street, building a clean energy future, and the heath insurance reform legislation. Thoroughly researched and documented, the Guide contains 59 links to primary source material.

“Voters are engaged like never before,” Watkins explains. “The guide is my attempt to highlight the critical issues facing us in 2010. I’d prefer an open debate with Jay Inslee, but it’s pretty clear that won’t happen. As a 14-year Congressman, he feels entitled to make the rules. His team has been stringing us along since the primary in August, and he won’t agree to anything resembling a real debate. He’s running out the clock.”

Watkins says, “Our government is broken, our economy is a wreck, we’re losing jobs, and everything seems to be falling apart. Voters need to decide which direction to go – to re-elect career politicians, or vote for newcomers with new ideas. To make a good decision, voters need us as candidates to move beyond sound bites and talking points to a substantive analysis and discussion of the issues.”

He continues, “In this election voters have a clear choice – if they like the current direction of the country, they’ll vote for Inslee. If they want the country moving forward again, I’m asking them to vote for me. Because we can’t afford another two years of Jay Inslee.”

James Watkins is the only candidate that has fostered the creation of new private-sector jobs. At the federal level he helped cut government spending as an FDIC troubleshooter. For more information on James Watkins, visit www.WatkinsForCongress.com.

Jay Inslee’s Avoidance of Public Debates No Joke - Vote James Watkins, Washington's First District

For article, click here.  "Washington's First District has a chance to vote in a Common Sense Candidate - James Watkins"

LYNNWOOD—James Watkins, candidate for the 1st congressional district has responded to Jay Inslee’s strange assertion that Watkins diminishes the value of community forums, and he presses Inslee to face the voters in a debate.

Watkins says, “I’ve been enthusiastically attending community forums and other unfiltered events open to the public since January. I’ve only seen Jay at one public candidate event, where he came late, but just in time to answer one question. Community-minded groups inviting all the local candidates to a meeting on behalf of voters is no joke. But for Jay Inslee to substitute this format for a full debate when our future is hanging in the balance is a serious display of bad faith on the part of a ‘people’s representative.’”

Watkins believes this is just another tactic Inslee is using to hide his record from voters.

“I’m sure Inslee would love his allotted six minutes at the next forum to be devoted to discussing the six-minute time slot rather than issues voters are interested in,” says Watkins. “He would much rather do that than explain why he voted for the largest deficit in U.S. history, a pork-laden stimulus plan that created no jobs, and a national energy tax on working families.”

The Watkins campaign has been requesting debates of Inslee since the primary election in August. Inslee refused to debate Watkins until, pressured by the media last week, he made a vague commitment to attend candidate forums which limit the engagement between candidates and one debate late in the election season.

Watkins stands with 1st District voters in supporting good government principles of transparency, independence, and fiscal responsibility. Inslee voted for a budget with a $1.34 trillion deficit and took no significant action as Boeing cut 30,000 jobs.

Watkins is the only candidate that has fostered the creation of new private-sector jobs. At the federal level he cut government spending as an FDIC troubleshooter. For more information on James Watkins, visit www.WatkinsForCongress.com.--

Bill Clinton to visit Washington to help Patty Murray with campaign against Rossi

Obama's visit: "He ate half a turkey sandwich and a small salad with berries as he chatted with Gillian Allen-White, one of the bakery owners, hotel owner Tiffany Turner, of Long Beach, and Joe Fugere, founder of Tutta Bella Neapolitan Pizzeria in the city. Also at the table were Murray and U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke.
From there he headlined two fundraisers that pulled in an estimated $1.3 million to be split between Murray's re-election campaign and the state Democratic Party.
He thrilled a crowd of 1,400 inside the Westin Hotel as he described his administration's efforts to move the country forward on health care, energy, education and reform of financial institutions and jabbed at Republicans for trying to reverse course to restore Bush Administration policies.
"When you want to move forward, you put your car in D," Obama said, to a round of laughs. "When you want to go backward, you put it in R. …. That's not a coincidence."
He ended his trip with a fundraiser with 60 people at the home of RealNetworks founder Rob Glaser.
While the president didn't mention Rossi by name, he left no doubt he considered Murray's fall opponent to be on the same page as the Republican leadership in Congress.
"They voted en masse against Wall Street reform -- and now Patty Murray's opponent has earned the distinction of being the first candidate in the country to call for repeal of Wall Street reform," Obama said.
"He wants to go back to the old rules and the lack of oversight that caused the worst crisis since the Great Depression. Don't you think that's strange?" he said.
Rossi spokeswoman Jennifer Morris responded: "If someone as eloquent as President Obama can't defend (Murray's) 18-year record of spending, taxing and growing government, who can?""
