ALERT: Democrats and RINOs in Congress are busily drafting freedom-stealing legislation in reaction to the Arizona massacre by a crazed lone gunman.
New Constitution-busting constraints on free speech and the right to keep and bear arms are already in the works by those in Congress with no respect for the requirements of responsible self-government!
We must not let political opportunists and those with little understanding of our unalienable rights and Constitutional guarantees of liberty use this national calamity as a springboard for more tyranny from Washington, DC!
As virtually the entire country is aware, a deranged youth named Jared Lee Loughner stands accused by survivors and eye-witnesses of opening fire on Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) and a crowd of people at an outdoor political event in Tucson, Arizona. Six people were killed in the carnage, including the chief federal judge in the state, a 9 year-old girl born on September 11th, 2001, and a top staffer to Giffords -- 14 others were injured. Congresswoman Giffords suffered a devastating gunshot wound to the head which she miraculously survived.
While the mainstream media falsely and ghoulishly claims that the violent acts of a madman are somehow the consequence of “Right-wing extremist rhetoric” or our Second Amendment right of gun ownership, the Obama Socialist-Democrats are working overtime to ensure our liberty suffers its losses, as well.
They will not be satisfied until national shock and sorrow over the violence of this madman's actions is manipulated into a sense of national crisis which they will "not politically waste" -- in the revealing words of partisan hack Rahm Emmanuel. "Not wasting" this opportunity for political gain, at the cost of all decency and the common good, apparently means more unconstitutional Socialist legislation, character assassination, falsification of history, blatant injustice -- and if they are really successful, further weakening of our rights, freedoms, and institutions of open society!
One proposal for speech restrictions designed to limit political rhetoric has been advocated by no less than Tea Party defamer (who falsely claimed he heard a “chorus” of Tea Partiers use the "N-word" during the ObamaCare protests at the Capitol -- a charge he later recanted) Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO). Cleaver says: “We are in a dark place in this country right now; the atmospheric condition is toxic.” This statement is actually true of Cleaver's rhetoric and logic, but is NOT grounds for laws to restrict free speech.
And Rep. Robert Brady (D-PA) has announced plans to introduce legislation to make it a federal crime to use language or symbols that could be perceived as threatening to a federal official.
So much for our First Amendment rights.
But that isn't all.
Even occasionally-sensible Republicans revert to instantly shameful, gun-grabbing RINO reactionary behavior like calling for more failed gun control laws, or a security detail for every Member of Congress. Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee Pete King (R-NY) is crafting legislation to make it illegal to carry a gun within 1,000 feet of certain federal officials, including (especially) Members of Congress.
Like too many ill-informed Democrats, this poor excuse for a Republican fails to realize that if just one person at the Arizona rally had a concealed weapons permit, Jared Loughner could have been stopped before he fired his first round. Apparently, Congressman King is under the mistaken impression that guns, not deranged madmen, kill people and that only the Government can protect us. Disturbing indeed from the incoming Chair of Homeland Security Committee.
So much for the Second Amendment.
Thankfully, not everyone in Congress is panicking. Rep. Michael Grimm (R-NY), a former FBI Special Agent and combat Marine, sent a letter to House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) Tuesday night recommending security training for all Congressional Members and top staff. Grimm wrote forcefully counseling against knee-jerk legislation in the aftermath of the attempted assassination of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ).
On Wednesday the House of Representatives passed a Sense of the Congress Resolution which stated in part that the Congress, "reaffirms the bedrock principle of American democracy and representative government, which is memorialized in the First Amendment of the Constitution and which Representative Gabrielle Giffords herself read in the Hall of the House of Representatives on January 6, 2011, of 'the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances';
and "stands firm in its belief in a democracy in which all can participate and in which intimidation and threats of violence cannot silence the voices of any American."
Enough is enough. We as free citizens need to mourn the tragic loss of life, and as a nation of laws seek justice from the only person responsible -- the apparently insane young man who stands accused of committing these violent and senseless crimes. We must act NOW to demand the Socialist-Democrats STOP their shameless and vulgar exploitation of this terrible episode, treat the victims with dignity and our Constitution with respect, and stop falsely defaming law abiding Americans, Tea Partiers, conservatives, and gun owners.
