National Pro-Family Leaders Urge DOD to Purge Anti-Christian SPLC As Reliable Source
|
Washington, DC—Mat Staver, along with 15 other members of the Restore Military Religious Freedom coalition, released a letter sent to Secretary Hagel, urging him to review current Department of Defense (DOD) training materials and to ensure that future materials do not rely on information provided by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC).
Mat Staver, Chairman of Liberty Counsel Action, explained, “Relying on information provided by the SPLC is reckless. This is an organization that profits from its own manufactured perception of ‘hate’ in America. This is also the organization that created the online ‘hate map’ that Floyd Corkins used to target the Family Research Council (FRC), when he entered the FRC with the intent to murder as many people as possible because of their Judeo-Christian worldview on marriage. For the DOD, or any federal agency, to rely upon the SPLC as a reliable resource is inappropriate and endangers the freedom of every person, including those serving in the military, to worship God according to the dictates of one’s conscience.” Staver concluded, “It is my hope that Secretary Hagel will evaluate and reconsider the training materials used by the DOD and purge any that originated from the SPLC or any other organization that routinely attacks Bible-believing Americans for their faith. Our soldiers put their lives on the line every day to protect our freedom; protecting their constitutional rights is the least we can do.” Liberty Counsel Action is a 501(c)(4), nonprofit, grassroots lobbying organization advancing religious and civil liberties, the sanctity of human life, the family, limited and responsible government, national security, and support for Israel. |
