About Washington Anti-Trafficking Engagement Day:
Washington Anti-Trafficking Engagement Day, held at the Washington State Capitol in Olympia on January 13th, 2011 at 3:30-5:00 pm, aims to catalyze strategic partnerships to support research-based policy and legislative changes to end modern-day slavery. Last year, when grass roots activists unified to propose human trafficking bills, the Legislature passed four of them unanimously. This year, we hope to continue that momentum, as one unified voice to engage our lawmakers, law enforcement agencies and business leaders to end human trafficking. Research and collaboration are underway to develop legislation that will further victim protection. Featured speakers will be Bradley Myles, CEO and Executive Director of Polaris Project in Washington D.C.; Rob McKenna, Washington State Attorney General; Terri Kimball, Director, Division of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Prevention, City of Seattle; and Senator Jeanne Kohl-Welles, D-Seattle.
