The Salt and Light Council Joins Ministry of Liberty Counsel to Mobilize Churches


Orlando, FL – Liberty Counsel and The Salt and Light Council (SLC) are pleased to announce that SLC has officially joined the ministry of Liberty Counsel. Liberty Counsel will be the controlling organization for both ministries.
 
SLC is a 501(c)(3) ministry located in southern California and was founded by Dran Reese in 2008. Together, Liberty Counsel and SLC will have offices in Florida, California, Virginia, Washington, D.C., and Israel.
 
Dran Reese joined the Liberty Counsel board and will continue to serve as President of SLC. Several board members of Liberty Counsel have joined the SLC board, with Mat Staver serving as the Chairman of both boards.
 
“Liberty Counsel and The Salt and Light Council are the perfect combination to educate and mobilize pastors and churches to engage in responsible Biblical citizenship,” says Mat Staver, Founder and Chairman of Liberty Counsel. “Levels of commitment, however sincere and inspired, can wane because leaders lack the tools to equip their congregations. The Salt and Light Council provides the ongoing assistance, education, and action points to help pastors and churches remain engaged.”

Earlier this year, Liberty Counsel launched its Pastors and Patriots initiative, designed to educate and mobilize pastors and churches to engage in responsible citizenship. In the coming months, Liberty Counsel will be sending over 150,000 churches a DVD called “Silence is NOT an Option,” in which Mat Staver informs pastors about how they can be involved in local, state, and national issues and in vetting political candidates without fearing the IRS. “I want pastors to replace the muzzle with a megaphone,” Staver affirms.

The Salt and Light Council is a ministry tool for local churches and currently numbers about 80 congregations throughout the country. SLC conducts workshops and provides training to establish Salt & Light Biblical Citizenship Ministries in churches that offer education in worldview issues, along with ways people can advance religious liberty, the sanctity of human life, marriage, family, and support for Israel.

“Looking back on the birth of this nation, it is clear the Great Awakening gave birth to the American Revolution,” observes Staver. “The sermons of pastors were literally the fuel for the American Revolution. 
I believe the same can be true today. That is why Liberty Counsel is working with pastors and churches during this critical time in American history. The Salt and Light Council will greatly enhance our Pastors and Patriots initiative.”
