"On Thursday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi urged Catholic leaders to “instruct” their parishioners to support immigration reforms, saying clerics should “play a very major role” in supporting her policies. However, at the same press conference, she also praised the group of religious sisters whose endorsement of the health care reform bill undercut the U.S. bishops’ push for abortion funding restrictions reports.........
History reveals that shrewd politicians often quote the Bible or other religious writings in an effort to convince believers that it is only through the government’s legal and political machinations that the “word of God” can be achieved. Once they have acquired the great power they desired and God is of no use to them, they discard the Bible and persecute religious for being “intolerant” or 'dissidents'."
