How many congressional districts are in Washington, and which ones have best candidates for 2010?

'Washington state could be in line for a new congressional district when the numbers from the 2010 Census become final.
A private organization that analyzes census, election and political data said Monday the state could just make the cut for adding a seat if the once-per-decade national headcount comes out as expected.
That would give Washington 10 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives and give the state Redistricting Commission more to do than just adjust the current nine congressional districts and 49 legislative districts…'
Dino Rossi, a victim of liberal dishonesty
How Dino can win 2010, click here.
From Wall Street Journal:
Rossi catching up in polls, the left is unleashing the dirty tricks.
Lowney is one of the actors behind Washington's initiative 1098, which this fall will seek to impose an income tax on the state's most productive earners.
His attack against Rossi concerns the Building Industry Association of Washington (BIAW), a trade group. BIAW is counter to Washington's labor and environmental groups; and it supports free-market candidates like Rossi for office.
Most offensive to liberals was when Mr. Rossi in a blue state nearly won the 2004 gubernatorial election against Christine Gregoire. When a 2008 rematch became likely, Democrats quickly started attacking Mr. Rossi's character. That didn't work so well so they looked for a lawyer like Lowney.
He filed a lawsuit in 2007, whining that BIAW was inappropriately using workers-comp money to fund political campaigns. He wanted the judge to immediately bar the BIAW from accessing money it might use for Mr. Rossi's campaign. The judge denied that request.
In September 2008, Mr. Lowney was mad and immediately filed another suit against BIAW, this time claiming Mr. Rossi and the trade group had improperly colluded on campaign activity.
On this suspicion, Lowney convinced a judge to allow him to depose Mr. Rossi—eight days before the 2008 election. When Mr. Rossi, calm in knowing he did nothing wrong, arrived at the deposition, there was a swarm of cameras waiting. The scene created doubt in voters' minds.
The Lowney team said the timing was necessary because it needed the deposition immediately so it could file for "emergency" injunctive relief. However, they never did file for emergency injunctive relief. After Mr. Rossi lost, the lawsuit disappeared. Even the Seattle Times was moved to editorialize that the Lowney deposition was a "farce" and "baldly political."
'Now, some 21 months later, and only after Mr. Rossi declared for the Senate (you gotta give credit to the persistence of Rossi), Mr. Lowney has rediscovered his case. Lowney sent a process server with a subpoena, not to the proper representative of Mr. Rossi's former gubernatorial campaign but to Mr. Rossi's personal home—twice—the week before the August Senate primary. This subpoena, demanding yet more documents—from 2008 and 2004—comes despite the fact that the state campaign agency, the Public Disclosure Commission, conducted an exhaustive investigation into the Rossi allegations, and in March of this year fully exonerated the Senate candidate.'
Will Washington's judicial system again be abused for politics? The judge overseeing Mr. Lowney's resurrected suit is Mike Heavey, a former Democratic state senator who was appointed to the court by former Gov. Gary Locke (now President Obama's secretary of commerce). Judge Heavey's brother-in-law was once the president of the state's largest labor organization.
-In a telephone conversation yesterday, Mr. Lowney took issue with headlines declaring Mr. Rossi "exonerated" by the state commission, saying the body instead "didn't have the information to prosecute."
-As for the timing, he says he was waiting for the government to conclude its investigation. (The commission cleared Mr. Rossi in March.) Mr. Lowney said this is "not a campaign issue, it's a prosecution," and moreover that he didn't think it was "appropriate" to be "litigating it in the press." (He would if facts were on his side.)
BIAW Executive Vice President Tom McCabe says, "This is all about using the legal process as a means to attack a political opponent." The Rossi campaign referred me to Mr. Rossi's lawyer's recent response to the court, which objects to the subpoena as an "improper, politically-motivated effort to employ the Court system for political purposes."
To his credit, Judge Heavey has pushed the court date — which had originally been set for the first day of November — to after the election. There is no telling what Mr. Lowney will ask for in the meantime.'
2004 election against Gregoire: "After a hard fought election, Rossi was certified governor-elect, winning by just 261 votes."......
"Gregoire requested recount after recount after recount until they found a way to count the votes in her favor. In King County it was revealed election officials used a “ballot-on-demand” printing machine to create ballots. Washington State was also sued for failing to mail out absentee ballots to military personnel from the state serving overseas. Eventually, after enough shenanigans that looked much like the Al Franken mess in Minnesota, Gregoire was deemed elected by a 133-vote margin." Click here for story. Rumor on 2004 election: Former "Gov. Gary Locke organized the election takeaway," said Washington State Democratic party leader in a meeting with Darcy Burner.
'After he won by 261 votes there was a recount and he won by 42 votes, the Secretary of State certified him the winner. But according to Washington law either party can request one additional recount, for a total of three counts, as long as they pay for it. While the third count was being conducted uncounted ballots were “found” in King County – a Democratic stronghold so Christine Gregoire won by ten votes. Then a judge allowed yet another batch of “found” King County ballots and her lead grew to 129 votes. Most believe the Democrats stole the election from Rossi.'

"Dino Rossi, a leader who listens." "Patty Murray, the Stupidest person in America" (Ann Coulter)
"When I was growing up, the big fear in my life was the nuclear war. I remember second- and third-grade teachers giving us skills to deal with it, if that big alarm goes off, which was 'Hide under your desk.' Would that do any good? I don't know. But as a child, that gives you a feeling there's something to do beyond panic. Today the biggest fear our kids live with is whether ... the kid beside them has a gun. We have to give them skills so they feel confident to deal with it." From Patty Murray
'Rossi charges that “record deficits, high unemployment, and massive debt are the result of Senator Murray’s 18 years in Washington.” He’s also been hammering Murray for bringing special help to the state through earmarks. She was No. 12 on the top 20 list of earmarkers, according to the watchdog group Taxpayers for Common Sense.'
Negative, misleading Murray ad: one on international business where she claims Rossi is sending jobs overseas. What is really happening is that he supports foreign tax credits which make sure our companies aren't double taxed and put at a disadvantage.
But Rossi was never asked the words shown in the ad. A videotape of the interview shows his answer actually was in response to a convoluted exchange about whether government subsidies to Boeing and its chief competitor should be considered when awarding the contract."

Jay Inslee hides behind candidate forums - James Watkins, 1st District, Washington
September 29, 2010
LYNNWOOD—Jay Inslee has continued to refuse to debate his opponent James Watkins. Pressured by the media last week, Inslee made a vague commitment to attend candidate forums which limit the engagement between candidates. Inslee has not committed to a single real debate with Watkins.
“This is just like comparing what he does in D.C. to what he tells voters back home,” says Watkins. “He’s telling the media one thing, but still avoiding the guy he’s allegedly going to debate.”
Watkins recalls Inslee’s "health care town halls" and sees the past repeating itself.
"Just like he did in the health care town halls, Inslee is hiding behind a fig leaf. He tried telephone town halls, and when that didn’t work he devised 'citizen' panels which asked only softball questions. Now he’s hiding behind the controlled formats of 'community forums' which do not have the give and take of full debates.”
The first candidate forum is scheduled for October 4. According to the Edmonds Chamber of Commerce, each candidate will get a one-minute opening, two questions with one and a half minutes to answer and a two-minute closing.
When questioned by a Watkins supporter about Inslee’s intent to actually face a live audience, “Team Inslee” replied in an email, “The two candidates are planning to ‘man up’ at several forums and debates throughout the district during the next several weeks.”
Concerned about the dignity of the process, Watkins says, "Look – voters don’t want my volunteers following Inslee around in chicken outfits tooting duck calls just to get a debate. Voters want choices, and they want a real debate on the issues that matter most – jobs and government spending. Six minutes is a joke. Voters want to hear their candidates really debate the issues before the election. Instead, assuming Mr. Inslee actually attends, they’ll see a career politician trying to hide from his record.”
Watkins stands with 1st District voters in supporting good government principles of transparency, independence, and fiscal responsibility. Inslee voted for a budget with a $1.34 trillion deficit and watched as Boeing cut 30,000 jobs.
Watkins is the only candidate that has helped create new jobs and helped cut spending at the federal level. As an FDIC troubleshooter Watkins helped reduce federal spending at that agency. In the private sector he has helped small businesses in all fifty states produce thousands of jobs. For more information on James Watkins, visit http://www.watkinsforcongress.com/.

One Nation Working Together Rally coming on 10/2/2010, which Rangel, MSNBC host and political pundit Ed Schultz, and Howard Dean support. Danny Glover
"Among the 150 groups comprising One Nation Working Together are the Courage Campaign, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), Communication Workers of America (CWA), the National Council of La Raza, and Planned Parenthood." American Federation of Teachers (AFT), the United States Students Association, and the National Association for Equal Opportunity in Education.
The group's chief organizer, Michael McPhearson, undauntedly refers to it as the "peace table" - but in reality, it's a coalition of almost 100 groups. "Our role ... is to help people understand the connections between the War on Terror and how it's depleting our resources here at home, as well as the moral deprivation of the policy and the fact that it's not working," McPhearson said.
In addition to spreading the antiwar message, One Nation for Peace - like all the involved groups - will also promote the overall goals of the One Nation March. "When we have economic turndown," McPhearson said, "people start to look for scapegoats. It's unfortunately a human trait that we turn on each other when the economy is bad ... This rally is to push back on this cultural and political space, where people are divisive and intolerant. People want to get together, people who understand that the US is a culturally diverse place and we have to accept each other."

Illegal immigrants and farm work and Stephen Colbert
"John Conyers, Democrat of Michigan, asked him to leave. Conyers said the committee had not seen so many reporters at a hearing since presidential impeachment proceedings in the late 1990s, and he wanted Colbert to leave so that the committee could carry on with its work.
Colbert, however, did not budge, saying that he was present at the invitation of the hearing chair, US Representative Zoe Lofgren, Democrat of California. But Colbert said if Lofgren wanted him to leave, he would.
Lofgren said she wanted him to stay, and a good portion of Capitol Hill was glued to broadcasts of the hearing." Source
Colbert: "America's farms are presently far too dependent on immigrant labor to pick our fruits and vegetables,"
"Maybe we could offer more visas to the immigrants, who lets face it, will probably be doing these jobs anyway."
"Now, the obvious answer is for all of us to stop eating fruits and vegetables. And if you look at the recent obesity statistics, many Americans have already started."
..."we all know there is a long tradition of great nations importing foreign workers to do their farm work."
"After all, it was the ancient Israelites who built the first food pyramids. But this is America. I don't want a tomato picked by a Mexican. I want it picked by an American, then sliced by a Guatemalan, and served by a Venezuelan in a spa where a Chilean gives me a Brazilian."
"My great-grandfather did not travel across four thousand miles of the Atlantic Ocean to see this nation overrun by immigrants. He did it because he killed a man back in Ireland. That's the rumor."
"I'll admit I started my work day with preconceived notions of migrant labor; but after working with these men and women ... side by side in the unforgiving sun I have to say -- and I do mean this sincerely -- please don't make me do this again. It is really, really hard."
The brief experience, he said, "gave me some small understanding why so few Americans are clamoring to begin an exciting career as seasonal migrant field workers."
Colbert appeared alongside, among others, United Farm Workers President Arturo Rodriguez, whose group over the summer launched "Take Our Jobs," a campaign that challenged U.S. citizens to replace immigrants in farm work.
"Maybe we should be spending less time watching Comedy Central and more time considering all the real jobs that are out there -- ones that require real hard labor and ones that don't involve sitting behind a desk," said Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa.

History reveals that shrewd politicians often quote the Bible or other religious writings in an effort to convince believers that it is only through the government’s legal and political machinations that the “word of God” can be achieved. Once they have acquired the great power they desired and God is of no use to them, they discard the Bible and persecute religious for being “intolerant” or 'dissidents'."

'Pledge to America'
“The federal government is too big, it spends too much, and it’s out of control,” said House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio. The current federal government “isn’t listening” and “doesn’t get it.”
“Our government has failed us,” said Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-California. “The land of opportunity has become the land of shrinking prosperity. … People are outraged.”
“The House Republican plan is a clear and forceful response to these concerns, and working together, House and Senate Republicans will continue to fight for the principles upon which it is based,” said Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Kentucky.
House Majority Steny Hoyer, D-Md., responded, “They want to put a new face with the same policies, and the American people will reject it.”

It's easy to kick somebody when they're down. George W. Bush has dealt with more difficult issues than any president since Franklin Roosevelt. And I've told my colleagues it's time that we go stand up for the president.
Since its first day as a nation, Israel has lived under a cloud of aggression from militant extremists and hostile neighboring governments.
Each and every day, Israel's very existence is at stake.
The aggressive, unprovoked acts of violence against Israel by Hezbollah and Hamas are revealing. It is clear they don't want peace, but rather seek the ultimate destruction of Israel.
Most recently, terrorist forces have captured Israeli soldiers and fired rockets into Israeli cities - both unprovoked. These acts of aggression deserve the rapid and decisive response they received.
The United States and Israel have a unique relationship based on our mutual commitment to democracy, freedom, and peace. Therefore, just as our commitment to these principles must be steadfast, so must our support for Israel.
House Republicans want to pass a strong border security, illegal immigration bill. We want a bill. There is no ifs, ands or buts about it.
Make no mistake, a 'yes' vote on the Democrats' health care bill is a vote for taxpayer-funded abortions.
Mr. President, the buzz saw that your healthcare bill ran into wasn't lobbyists and special interests it was tens of millions of American's who were saying, 'Stop!'
Our freedoms were born in the ideals of the Enlightenment and the musket fires of an historic revolution.
Our manifesto, whatever it will be called, will come from the people who are really in charge of this country, and that's the American people.
Protecting the institution of marriage safeguards, I believe, the American family.
Studies show that children best flourish when one mom and one dad are there to raise them.
And that is why marriage and family law has emphasized the importance of marriage as the foundation of family, addressing the needs of children in the most positive way.
While 45 of the 50 States have either a State constitutional amendment or a statute that preserves the current definition of marriage, left-wing activist judges and officials at the local levels have struck down State laws protecting marriage.
The United States did not choose to fight Islamic extremists. These terrorists chose to fight our way of life. They chose to challenge our existence.
The value of the majority lies not in the opportunity to wield great power, but in the chance to use power to do great things.
They have called Operation Iraqi Freedom a war of choice that isn't part of the real war on terror. Someone should tell that to al Qaeda.

This resolution simply says Israel has the right to defend itself. This includes conducting operations both inside its borders and in the territory of nations that threaten it, which is in accordance with international law.
We have no stronger ally anywhere in the world than Israel.
Why don't we stop the stimulus spending? There's still about $400 billion or $500 billion of the stimulus plan that has not been spent. Why don't we stop it? It's not working.
Working Americans who believe in our country and who believe in our Constitution are saying, 'Enough is enough!' The American people are screaming at the top of their lungs to Washington, 'Stop! Dove World Outreach Centre getting too much publicity for Koran-burning to where it could endanger our military men in Afghanistan
He has received criticism from Petraeus, Hillary, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, and the WH, among others, but Pastor Jones said he has also received a lot of encouragement for his protest, with supporters mailing copies of the Islamic holy text to his small church.
Note: No copies of the Koran have yet been burned, but already muslims in Indonesia ("Jihad to protect Koran") and Afghanistan ("Death to America") are rioting in the streets. "Hundreds of Afghans railed against the United States and called for President Barack Obama's death at a rally in the capital Monday to denounce an American church's plans to burn the Islamic holy book on 9/11." --Rahim Faiez for AP, September 6
His idea of burning Korans in a bonfire is because, according to Mr Jones, the book's philosophy is "evil." It does not espouse biblical truth but does incide radical, violent behaviour among muslims.
In listening to Mr. Jones, he does not come across as some kind of a 'nut.' He's very sane and truthful in his beliefs.
However, his idea to burn the Koran is, arguably, not a worthwhile one. Perhaps citing and finding passages from the Koran that espouse evil (jihad, violence, poor treatment of women) and ripping them out would get the message across in a more effective way.
Here are some examples:
Qur'an (2:191-193)- "And slay them wherever ye find them, and drive them out of the places whence they drove you out, for persecution [of Muslims] is worse than slaughter [of non-believers]...and fight them until persecution is no more, and religion is for Allah"
Qur'an (2:216) - "Fighting is prescribed for you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knoweth, and ye know not."
Qur'an (3:151) - "Soon shall We cast terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers, for that they joined companions with Allah, for which He had sent no authority."
Qur'an (4:74) - "Let those fight in the way of Allah who sell the life of this world for the other. Whoso fighteth in the way of Allah, be he slain or be he victorious, on him We shall bestow a vast reward."
Qur'an (4:95) - "Not equal are those believers who sit (at home) and receive no hurt, and those who strive and fight in the cause of Allah with their goods and their persons. Allah hath granted a grade higher to those who strive and fight with their goods and persons than to those who sit (at home). Unto all (in Faith) Hath Allah promised good: But those who strive and fight Hath He distinguished above those who sit (at home) by a special reward."
Qur'an (5:33) - "The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His messenger and strive to make mischief in the land is only this, that they should be murdered or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off on opposite sides or they should be imprisoned; this shall be as a disgrace for them in this world, and in the hereafter they shall have a grievous chastisement."
Qur'an (8:12) - "I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them."
Qur'an (9:5) - "So when the sacred months have passed away, then slay the idolators wherever you find them, and take them captives and besiege them and lie in wait for them in every ambush, then if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, leave their way free to them."
Qur'an (9:14) - "Fight them, Allah will punish them by your hands and bring them to disgrace..."
Qur'an (9:29) - "Fight those who believe neither in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book (Christians and Jews), until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued."
Qur'an (9:30) - "And the Jews say: Ezra is the son of Allah; and the Christians say: The Messiah is the son of Allah; these are the words of their mouths; they imitate the saying of those who disbelieved before; may Allah destroy them; how they are turned away!"
Qur'an (9:38-39) - "O ye who believe! What is the matter with you, that, when ye are asked to go forth in the cause of Allah, ye cling heavily to the earth? Do ye prefer the life of this world to the Hereafter? But little is the comfort of this life, as compared with the Hereafter. Unless ye go forth, He will punish you with a grievous penalty, and put others in your place."
Qur'an (9:41) - "Go forth, light-armed and heavy-armed, and strive with your wealth and your lives in the way of Allah! That is best for you if ye but knew."
Qur'an (9:73) - "O Prophet! Strive hard against the unbelievers and the hypocrites and be unyielding to them; and their abode is hell, and evil is the destination”
Qur'an (9:111) - "Allah hath purchased of the believers their persons and their goods; for theirs (in return) is the garden (of Paradise): they fight in His cause, and slay and are slain: a promise binding on Him in truth, through the Law, the Gospel, and the Qur'an: and who is more faithful to his covenant than Allah? Then rejoice in the bargain which ye have concluded: that is the achievement supreme."
Qur'an (9:123) - "O you who believe! fight those of the unbelievers who are near to you and let them find in you hardness."
Qur'an (25:52) - "Therefore listen not to the Unbelievers, but strive against them with the utmost strenuousness, with the (Qur'an)."
Qur'an (47:4) - "So when you meet in battle those who disbelieve, then smite the necks until when you have overcome them, then make (them) prisoners."
Qur'an (47:35) - "Be not weary and faint-hearted, crying for peace, when ye should be uppermost for Allah is with you,"
Qur'an (48:29) - "Muhammad is the messenger of Allah. And those with him are hard (ruthless) against the disbelievers and merciful among themselves."
Irshad and the Abuse of Muslim Women Atlas Shrugged
A sketchy story and unconvincing argument to say Pastor Jones's church is a scam.
Food for thought: A US Air Force Base in Afghanistan last year collected and burned Bibles sent to U.S. soldiers by their families.
Flag burning and Bible mocking is accepted by liberals, but liberals will turn around and claim burning the Koran is wrong. Reasoning? Such an act will motivate and provoke moderate and peaceful muslims to commit violence.
Muslims believe Muhammad is a final, great prophet, but, unlike Isaiah or Daniel, Muhammad has never predicted any future event which would earn him such a title. It is interesting to note that muslims acknowledge that Jesus was borne of a virgin and that He is the only man to have walked the earth in living a totally blameless life. However, they do not realize that Jesus is the Son of God even though Jesus Himself has revealed that fact.
Christianity wins through the heart, not the sword. Is love mentioned in the Koran? Yes, in one place: Qur'an (61:4) - "Surely Allah loves those who fight in His way."
